Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Split: Cyrus to Keep Engagement Ring

A rep has confirmed the Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split, but the actor wants Cyrus to keep the engagement ring.

The news has spread like wildfire that wild child Miley Cyrus and actor Liam Hemsworth have broken up. Cyrus, 20, and Hemsworth, 23, started dating in 2009 after meeting during the filming of The Last Song. The pair have notoriously been on and off again, even after becoming engaged in June 2012 and seem to have been constantly battling break-up rumors.

Cyrus received a 3.5 carat cushion cut diamond engagement ring, which was designed by Neil Lane. The center stone is an antique cut stone, and the 18 karat yellow gold setting was designed to mimic the style aesthetic of antique engagement rings. The engagement ring also features a diamond accented band. Hemsworth wanted to give Cyrus “something really beautiful and romantic,” according to Lane.  After confirmation of the split this week, it is now rumored that Cyrus will be allowed to keep the one-of-a-kind engagement ring, which is estimated to be worth $250,000.

Only days after the break-up was confirmed, Hemsworth has already been spotted with a new flame, Eiza Gonzales. Gonzales is 23 and an aspiring, Mexican singer. The new pair was spotted partying in Las Vegas and also locking lips in Los Angeles.

No word on how Hemsworth and Cyrus are taking the break-up or whether or not they parted on good terms. At least both parties will be kept busy in the upcoming months. Hemsworth will be busy promoting Catching Fire while Cyrus will be pushing her newest album, Bangerz.
