Rock legend Melissa Etheridge has married her long-term girlfriend and Nurse Jackie creator Linda Wallem. The couple married in California on May 31st at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito. Etheridge and Wallem have been a couple since 2010, but have been friends for over a decade. Both woman turned 53 on May 27th, giving them even more reason to celebrate.
Etheridge shared the happy news with her fans on twitter. She tweeted “A gorgeous, perfect, beautiful day to get married.”
She also shared a photo of the happy couple accompanied by the words, “True love…so blessed. ‘By the power invested in me by the state of California…’ Thanks.”
During the ceremony, Etheridge sang an original song written specifically for Wallem in front of their wedding guests. Etheridge wore a classic gray suit with a colorful scarf, which matched the gorgeous flowers that surrounded the couple as they exchanged vows. Wallem wore a white and pink ombre dress, which suited the outdoor venue.
Celebrity guests in attendance included Jane Lynch, Chelsea Handler, Rosie O’Donnell, Sia, and more. Etheridge’s four children each participated in the ceremony, making it an even more special day.
