Kim Kardashian’s Fabulous Engagement Ring is 20.5 Carats Big

Kim Kardashian is often known for her extravagant fabulousness.  On May 18, 2011 she received a stunning 20.5 carat diamond engagement ring from Kris Humphries, Power Forward for the NBA New Jersey Nets.  Kris proposed to her in what is described as a fairy-tale proposal, down on bended knee with the words Will You Marry Me? spelled out on the floor in rose petals.

The ring has three diamonds set in a platinum band.  The main diamond weighs in at 16.5 carat and the accenting side diamonds weigh in at 2 carats each, they are emerald cut and trapezoid cut respectively.  The quality of the diamonds are rated at a VS in clarity and the ring is estimated to be at least 2 millions dollars in cost.

The ring is much larger than her sister Khloe’s engagement ring, which weighs in 12.5 carats.  This Kardashian sister was also proposed to by an NBA star, Lamar Odom, in 2009.  The two are still happily married.

The ring was decided by the esteemed Lorraine Schwartz.  Schwartz is famous for designing diamond jewelry for many of the Hollywood A-list stars, including an 18 carat wedding ring for Beyonce which cost 5 million dollars.

Kim, 30, and Kris, 26, have been dating for six months prior to the proposal. The wedding date has been set, but not revealed to the public.
