I’m pretty sure grey spinel is my new favorite gemstone! To me there is just something about the cool grey color with some flashes of purple that speaks to me. Spinel is increasing in popularity (or so it seems to me) and it comes in a variety of colors.
Here are a few fun facts about spinel:
- Red spinel can been mistaken for ruby.
- Spinel has recently been added as another birthstone for the month of August! Will it overtake peridot in popularity for August babies? Maybe! We’ll have to wait and see!
- Spinel comes in a variety of colors including red, grey, pink, orange and more.
Earlier this year, we traveled to the JCK Show in Las Vegas and purchased a few grey spinels. We thought long and hard about how to design them in a diamond accented ring and we are so excited to share two of our new creations with you! Learn more about our grey spinel rings below. Drumroll……

This three stone diamond ring features a 3.07ct center cushion cut grey spinel surrounded by a pave diamond halo. On either side there are two trillion cut diamonds, 0.49cttw also surrounded by hand set pave diamonds. The pave diamonds extend down the shank as well. Total carat weight for the pave diamonds is 0.69cttw. All accent diamonds are G color and VS clarity. We are thrilled with the final outcome of the ring! -
This grey spinel ring is a similar design (can you tell I LOVE three stone rings?!) and features a 2.58ct cushion cut grey spinel also surrounded by a halo of crisp white diamonds. The grey spinel is flanked on either side by trapezoid diamonds (also referred to as traps) weighing 0.30cttw. The pave diamonds surround the traps and also extend down the ring weighing 0.63cttw. -
This ring features a 2.31ct asscher cut grey spinel bezel set in a 14 karat rose gold setting. The rose gold complements the unique and complex hues of the stone. The bezel setting gives the ring a modern, sleek look. -
If you're looking for a showstopper ring, this is it! We chose an octagonal grey spinel and surrounded it with sparkling, white diamonds. The center stone is a square radiant cut and weighs 2.31 carats. The stone gives off flashes of purple, blue, and grey. -
We love the delicate look of this ring. We chose a cushion cut grey spinel that weighs 2.45ct, with a slightly elongated shape. The center stone is enhanced by six white diamonds, which add extra sparkle to the ring. The look is completed with a 14 karat rose gold setting.
All of our new creations are available for purchase in our ready-to-ship jewelry collection. Believe it or not, each retails for under $3850! Gemstone rings will add a pop of color to your jewelry collection! When shopping for a new ring, be sure to consider this exciting new jewelry trend. It’s absolutely gorgeous!
