Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger swapped wedding vows and wedding rings on July 1st. The couple was married in a 14th century medieval French chateau called Chateau de la Napoule, which rests on the French Riviera.
Both Canadians, the happy couple began dating in 2012 and became engaged in August 2012 only after a month of dating. Lavigne was presented with a stunning 14-carat three stone engagement ring, which features a center pear shaped diamond flanked by two half moon diamonds. The Nickelback frontman reportedly proposed to his sk8er girl in the studio, which completely took Lavigne by suprise.
Lavigne, 28, wore a stunning gothic-inspired black Monique L’huillier gown and Kroeger, 38, wore a classic black suit. The bride carried a bouquet of black roses with a matching black wedding veil. Lavinge explained her choice of theme and venue, “‘I wanted it to be over the top. I’m obsessed with castles and I love French decor and goth. I found this castle and it was perfect.”
The couple is currently honeymooning in Portofino, Italy, and has been spotted in public recently since their wedding. Lavigne was previously married to Sum41 front man Deryck Whibley, but they divorced in 2010. She also dated TV personality Brody Jenner from 2010 until 2012. This is the first marriage for Kroeger.
