It was announced that Christie’s will auction the world’s largest orange diamond next month. The pear-shaped stone is classified as vivid orange and weighs 14.82 carats. It features VS1 clarity. Many are speculating that this striking diamond is to sell for $20 million, or $1.3 million per carat.

This diamond is currently the biggest orange diamond in the world. The sale is to take place in Geneva on Nov. 12. Simply known as ‘The Orange,” this mega-diamond could set a new record if it sells for that high of a price. Orange diamonds are among the rarest fancy colored diamonds and are affectionately known as ‘fire diamonds.’ They are incredibly rare and typically are found to weigh over 3 or 4 carats after polishing.

I can’t wait to see what this outstanding and rare gemstone sells for at Christie’s auction of Magnificent Jewels and who makes the purchase. The stone has been in the possession of an anonymous owner for the last 30 years, which makes it an even more special stone.
