Also setting a new record this month, the ‘Pink Star’ sold a Sotheby’s auction on November 13. Isaac Wolf, a diamond cutter based in New York purchased this 59.6-carat pink diamond for $83 million. He renamed the oval-cut diamond the ‘Pink Dream.’ The diamond set the record price for any gemstone sold. The record previously belonged to the ‘Graff Pink’, which sold in 2010 for $46 million.
It was a great month for fine jewelry and fancy colored diamonds auctions. Both of these gems are among the rarest as well as the largest fancy colored diamonds ever discovered.
