Just recently I was lucky enough to help a client design a custom oval three stone engagement ring. This client wanted me to design a split shank engagement ring with micro pave diamonds.

Finding the Perfect Ratio

 The first step in designing a 3 stone oval engagement ring is to understand the ratio between the center stone and side stones. Personally, I like the ratio for both diamonds to be anywhere from 25%to 50% the size of the center stone. I feel if the side stones are too big it can take away from the center diamond. In this case my client wanted to go with a center stone which is approximately 3.00 carats and the side stones are approximately 1.00ct each. This brings the ratio up to a 66%.  For this size center stone this ratio worked out beautifully.

Custom 3D CAD Design

After speaking to the client on the phone and sending emails back and forth, I understood what she wanted and I started working on the 3D CAD design. Within a few business days, I designed the most beautiful oval three stone engagement ring. Above you will find the picture of the 3D CAD rendering. Approval & Manufacturing

Once the client approved the 3D CAD rendering for the oval three stone engagement ring, I started the manufacturing process. This ring took approximately 12-15 business days to manufacture after the 3D CAD was approved. Above is the final picture. What do you think?
