Two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan and Clay Pell, a lieutenant in the Coast Guard, were married this weekend in Providence, Rhode Island.  The beaming couple was married on Saturday January 19th at the First Unitarian Church, which is located on the East Side of Providence.

Kwan, 32, and Pell, 31, announced their engagement in September 2012.  Her oval engagement ring features antique-inspired embellishments and was manufactured with platinum.  The ring was customized to feature the first initials of the couple.

Pell explained, “I had gotten a sense of some of the things that Michelle would like by looking around but I really wanted two initials, M & C, so I had that part made.”

Kwan wore a stunning Vera Wang gown for the occasion.  Approximately 250 guests attended the wedding and four uniformed Coast Guard officers formed a saber arch for the newlyweds.  The guests held up dazzling sparklers to add to the celebration.
